Orville Smith, a store manager for Best Buy in Augusta, Georgia, told police he observed a male customer, later identified as Tyrone Jackson of Augusta, on surveillance cameras putting a laptop computer under his jacket. When confronted, the man became irate, knocked down an employee, drew a knife and ran for the door.
Outside on the sidewalk were four Marines collecting toys for the “Toys for Tots” program. Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of the Marines, Cpl. Phillip Duggan, in the back; the injury did not appear to be severe.
After Police and an ambulance arrived at the scene, Cpl. Duggan was transported for treatment.
The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken ribs, multiple contusions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose and a broken jaw… injuries he sustained when he slipped and fell off of the curb after stabbing the Marine.
I don’t get it. How do people not understand? Food stamps, medicare, unemployment, and other socialist programs are not the answer to fixing things. I wont make people less dependent to go out, find work and pay into the system.
We need to cut spending, cut the black hole programs, cut pay to the US Senate and Congress, stop giving them 3 weeks of paid holiday. We need to cut the useless government programs, the ones that exist just to employ people who aren’t really doing anything. Government unions have to go. I know as far back as I can recall, teachers making jokes about the government overpaying for everything. We need to take lobbying out of the picture. Needs to stop. Now.
I’m tired of the lies, I’m tired of it being considered being politically incorrect to be a Republican, I am sorry if I have a desire to get out and support myself, and not depend on our government. I’m tired of the media beating up Republicans, yes Bush and Palin have said stupid shit, but how come nobody pays attention when Barack talks about wanting to give 12 year old kids with asthma breathalyzers, or how he wants to visit Hawaii and Alaska so he can say he has campaigned in all 58 states. I’m tired of hearing how Obama killed Osama and Gaddafi (sp), he did not. Our boots on the ground killed Osama, and Maummar’s own people killed him. The media needs to stop glorifying our President for things he did not do. A President that hasn’t done much but spend money. More money in 4 years than the past 232. One President that has outspent the past 43 COMBINED! Argue that most of that debt is only because Barack is a victim of the Bush era, but Bush did NOT okay a stimulus package worth $875B, yes that is $875,000,000,000.00 of our American tax dollars, paid for with the paychecks of the middle class, that went to the very corporations that screw us everyday. Mr. President, don’t tell me you’re fighting big business, then give them 875,000,000,000 of our hard earned dollars!
Cut apart FOX news all you want. But they’re just news, and make lots of good points and facts. The only difference them, CNN, and World News is that they sway towards the political right, where the others are swaying to the left. Huffington Post and Addicting Info are NOT reliable news sources, I love seeing this stuff on facebook, people using a BLOG posting OPINIONS and accepting it as fact. It’s not. Tear apart Santorum for saying “Black People” but his track record shows tons of his money and time spent with the black communities and charities trying to help them out. I’m sure he did say “black”, I’m sure it’s because he works with black people and has seen that a lot of black people face these problems, his only mistake was trying to deny saying it.
And last, but certainly not least, this has struck a cord with me lately. People believe that Bush lied about WMD’s in Iraq, I say believed because we can’t prove that there never were. We found nuclear shells (empty) and found records of the Iraqis buying and sending nuclear material back and forth from Russia (I know, you never knew that, thank your media). So call Bush a liar ll you want. But in the past couple weeks I heard that ALL of our soldiers were out of Iraq and Afghanistan, waiting on stand-by in Kuwait. This is at least the second time I have been told that we have vacated Iraq. But just yesterday on the radio I heard that we had a few men killed in Iraq. Mr. President, I know it is an election year, but try to stay away from blatant lies. Don’t piss on my head and tell me it’s raining. But mostly, don’t dishonor our men dying in the sandbox by denying their existence.
There’s a number of places, Gettysburg, Arlington, Pearl Harbor, beaches of Normandy, Moscow, Berlin, etc.
Something you all might not expect to come from me. But I have been thinking a lot lately about the shit our country is in, that the modern world is in, and how it got there and why. And in doing so, I think back to human nature, we’re nothing more than animals on this Earth? Why are we so arrogant to think we are?
If you think about all the things that are bad in this world and think about where it comes from, it’s greed. Everything shitty about this world can be traced to greed or at least arrogance.
Think about animals, there are societies of wolves, monkeys, both pack animals, whales stick to pods, it only makes sense that we as humans will be social creatures, finding one another and depending on each other to make life easier. But the difference is, when was the last time a wolf killed another wolf for howling to the wrong moon? Or a whale killing another for squeaking and moaning in the wrong tone? Never? So why do we as humans see the need to kill other humans because they look different? Or pray to a different god? It doesn’t make sense, we are so full of ourselves to think we are more than simply animals that we have to come up with reasons for our existence and then kill and fight any who disagree. Whats the point in developing opinions as a human race if all it does is create conflict? Virtually every other organism on Earth can get along fine with its own kind, but we cant while claiming to be the most intelligent.
The other big thing, that really grinds my gears is greed, and the need for money. I cannot accept that the human body and human race has evolved into anything that can’t survive on its own (save some exceptions). We should not be so dependent. If you want to look at the animal example again, think about monkeys, I’m not a pro, but I do think monkeys come together for protection, but it’s a “you eat what you find” kind of society, they don’t stockpile and share, you could call this capitalism, the monkeys that are good at what they do survive, those who cant find food, the weaker of them, starve, and it’s for the better of the group. On the other hand you have wolves, they hunt as a pack, and they all eat the kill. Call this socialism. Point is, none of them hold the fact that they are more successful over another’s head, and demand repayment, the monkeys don’t make the more successful ones feed the weaker, that goes beyond natural selection, a pack doesn’t suffer for the slow. The wolves don’t all take a day off with the attitude of “that guy hasn’t killed anything in weeks, we wont eat again until it’s him that does the killing to repay us.” Which people seem to do in our society.
Another angle could be looking at Inuit tribes, Native Americans, or any array of the tribes in the Amazon, or Africa. Imagine a society where one Native American lives, but has to make 6 arrowheads a month for the man who controls all of the water so he can drink, and he hunts for meat, but for fruit has to make 10 arrow heads a month for the one who gathers fruit so he can balance his diet. He has to make 5 arrowheads per month just to poop in the woods, to the man who controls the waste area. 3 a month for the man who tells stories and spreads news. (Arrowheads is just a crude example) Doesn’t this sound a little bit ridiculous? It does. And we do it every month when we pay for water, food, internet and newspapers. They didn’t do that! We often view them as such simple people, but they were so much smarter than we are. The reason they didn’t advance technologically like the “Western World”? Because they didn’t want to, things worked, and that was just fine. But in our society today, we make payments just to get through life while maintaining a quality to it. And what’s worse? Humans in general are miserable, very few people enjoy their job, and in many cases, they work too long and too hard for money that still isn’t enough, so we can’t afford the things we really want to do.
Think about the way our society works. You are born, you spend the next 3 years doing nothing, age 3-5 you go to preschool/ pre-k, 5-18 you spend 13 years working your ass off to determine where you will go to college, or if you can. 18-22 you spend working even harder, learning stuff that is generally irrelevant to your field of study, to determine where you will work when you’re out. College is expensive, so by the time you start working you’re already deep in the hole. Then you go to work, working all day everyday for the next 45-60 years of your life. Then, when you’re between the ages of 65-80, you retire, and you can live your life. That’s 65 to 80 years of hard work, so you MAYBE get the chance to enjoy the last 0-35 years of your life, a time that a lot of people, find themselves too old to do what they wish they could now that they’re free.
Think about what life could be. Back to the Native American example, those that wanted to gather, gathered, fishermen fished, hunters hunted, medicine men healed, mothers raised children, story tellers told stories. Isn’t that what people look back on after retirement? Wanting to spend time in the mountains and woods, more time on the river fishing, wishing they had the time years ago to spend with their kids and now can spend it with grandchildren, telling them stories from the past, that’s what people want now after retirement. These are all things that could be done all day everyday, but we have ruined society.
We created money, banks, cars, cable, cell phones, internet. We created the boring indoor jobs that people hate going to only to pay for things we were never meant to need, things that in the long run, make us miserable. And to think “We need cars, or I would never see my family in Virginia,” if things had stayed simple, your whole world would be the 50-300 people you lived amongst. Or “I couldn’t live without a cell phone,” yes, you could if you never knew it existed, the Native Americans never complained about not having them, tribes across the globe still don’t.
If you want to look at all the reasons the world might end that people consider, nuclear war, global warming, overpopulation. All products of us screwing things up. Without money, wars would still be fought primitively between rival tribes, and there would be no need to expand into needing guns, bombs, and nukes, problem solved. Global warming; living a simple life means no cars, no coal burning, no decimation of forest land, boom; problem solved. If it’s a natural cycle, I believe there are too many people, and things are too complicated and people are too irrational and dependent to survive another Ice Age, and it will destroy a majority of our population to a small amount, back to low numbers, who were smart enough to live, back to the way nature meant it to be. Back during the first Ice Age, when it got cold, people built bigger fires, wore thicker furs, today people count too much on their heating company, and would hope their water pipes didn’t freeze and wouldn’t know what to do if both aspects fail. When all of our technology is rendered useless bu extreme conditions, even our emergency systems will have trouble operating to save the dependent. Over population, without the wealth, there would be no baby booms and life expectancy would be much shorter, you can call that a negative, but I would take a 45 year life, loving and living everyday over working 80 years so I can live my final 20, if I get a final 20, if I grow old enough to retire.
People try to control everyone else these days. Laws against smoking, bias against the overweight, laws to band drinking and drugs. In a simpler life, if smoke made you happy, go and smoke if that’s how you enjoy life, if you’re willing to cut it short to smoke; be my guest. If you’re a foodie that likes to eat, go for it, if you die of diabetes or a heart attack, that’s the price you pay, but if you enjoyed your life, great! Same with drinking and drugs, but I believe people that seemed incoherent most of the time and were a threat to society would be shunned, forcing them to decide if it was worth it, their choice. Keep in mind, there are no cars for people to wreck under the influence, that eliminates that risk too.
I’m not by any means supporting a Socialist economic structure. I am not a fan of Capitalism, or Consumerism, but given the society we have created for ourselves today, it’s the best way to go about things. I believe we live a life so far beyond what nature had intended for us. And it will be the end of us. All of this came about with the introduction of currency. Money will be the end of the human race.
*I am by no means a Native American expert, just felt that that would be the most applicable metaphor to make my point.
